Domestic abuse is a pattern of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse by one person against another within a personal, intimate or family relationship. If an adult with care and support needs is a victim of domestic abuse this should be raised as a safeguarding concern.
Safeguarding children and adults is a complex process that requires collaborative working across a range of professions and disciplines. At times there may be disagreement about the best course of action to take, and the need to resolve professional differences through proportionate use of escalation.
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a procedure where the female genital organs are injured or changed for non-medical reasons.
Financial abuse includes having money or other property stolen, being defrauded, being put under pressure in relation to money or other property and having money or other property misused.

This incorporates multiple and/or intersecting forms of discrimination that often involve violence and cause physical and/or psychological harm or suffering.
