Abuse means hurting people physically or emotionally or by taking things that belong to them. Neglect means putting people at risk by not meeting their needs for care and support.

Adult safeguarding means protecting an adult’s right to live in safety, free from abuse, neglect and self neglect. It is about people and organisations working together to prevent and stop abuse or neglect.
